What a Ride!

Cruiser Rocks 3 was another great success! With almost 100 riders, we raised over $3,000, biked 12 miles, parked at 8 bars, made 2 passes through Wash Park, gave away sweet raffle prizes, met some new friends, and drank some fine Coors beer. Special thanks to all the participants, bar owners, sponsors and prize donors. Photos are posted here. Stay tuned for Cruiser Rocks 4 in June ‘09. The route for Cruiser Rocks 3 has been posted! We have expanded the number of bars to 7 and reduced the amount of time in each bar. This means more time on the bike! Check it out here!

OVERVIEW / CHANGES
All of you know how much fun Cruiser Rocks 1 & 2 were. Well Cruiser Rocks 3 is going to be even better. As always, we will mount our bikes at 2 pm and cruise the streets of Denver, bouncing from bar to bar, raising money for the LOVE HOPE STRENGTH Foundation, and having a blast in the process!
With the help of some cruiser feedback, we will be making a few adjustments to the ride.
- Less time in the bars and more time on the bikes! (Our time in each bar will be reduced to allow for more fun in the streets and thus hitting more bars in the process (TBA)
- silent auction
- volunteer program (details below)
- cruiser-lending for those without a bike (thanks Kendall!)
- prize for the most cruisers recruited!
NEW GOAL
Cruiser Rocks 1 had 56 riders. Cruiser Rocks 2 had 77 riders. Our goal for Cruiser Rocks 3 is to surpass 100 riders!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
For Cruiser Rocks 1 & 2, I have sent out emails, started an Evite, built a website, started a Myspace page, hung posters, and distributed fliers to get the word out. During CR2, many of you mentioned to me that you wanted to help promote CR3. I would absolutely LOVE to start a team and multiply the “word of mouth”!
Volunteers needed for:
- community outreach (hanging posters, distributing fliers at work, church, book clubs, team sports, school etc)
- raffle and silent auction items (do you know anyone who can make a business donation? Sports gear, haircuts, massages, restaurant gift certificates, concert tickets, beer tabs, etc?)
- media outreach – anyone with connections to local papers (Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News, Westword) or local TV and radio for press releases or media sponsorship? Please let me know!
- email networking – making announcements to your network of friends and colleagues through email
- online social networking (myspace/facebook)
- creative thinkers! (have any ideas that will make CR3 bigger and better? Let’s hear it!)
I’m really looking forward to CR3 and making it our best cruise ever! Please save the date, forward to your friends, and contact me if you can volunteer!

PS. Some cruiser emails were illegible on our registration page and thus incorrectly typed. So if you know a cruiser from CR1 or 2, please forward this on to them!

June 28th was a very special and fun day! We had 77 riders and raised several thousand dollars for the LOVE HOPE STRENGTH Foundation! Thanks to all of you who joined us and donated to the cause! I met alot of new people and made some new friends as we biked our way from bar to bar through Wash Park.

Cruiser Update!

Hey all!!!
I just wanted to tell you how excited I am about this event on Saturday and how much fun it is going to be. I want to urge all of you that are coming to try to bring 1 or 2 friends with you. This whole ride is not only a great benefit for a good cause, but it is also an opportunity to develop our community and I look forward to meeting a bunch of new people who enjoy a nice bike ride!
We will have a table set up outside of the Candlelight Tavern from 1-2pm so you can get your wristband and t-shirt. (You may also pick up your t-shirt at the end of the cruise back at the Candlelight - while supplies last).
